Our Story

I remember one of the first times I saw Kevin and actually felt a few butterflies! : )  I was waiting on Mother to finish working at the junior high in Crockett.  I was standing outside and remember that there was no one else there.  I saw Kevin walk up...he was already in high school and I was in the 8th grade.  I remember that he had on jeans and a CPO jacket and that his hair looked better than mine did!  We talked for a little while...he was coming to get Phyllis.

The next memory I have is one of us standing outside the typing room door at the high school.  There was a new song on the radio that week...."I'd Really Love to See You Tonight" by England Dan and John Ford Coley.  After we finished talking...I don't think I really said anything because I was so nervous!....Kevin asked what I was doing that night.  I don't remember the rest of the conversation but the last thing he said was, "There's a warm wind blowin' the stars around, and I'd really love to see you tonight."  I thought I would DIE!!! : )   And the rest is history......

We dated in high school for 2 1/2 years.  I even have the calendar that shows our first date!  We had a GREAT time in high school.  Our dates were usually going to the show or to the SPJST lodge on Saturday nights.  SO much fun at the lodge!  We loved to dance and didn't miss a chance to go there on Saturday nights.  The picture above is us at Phyllis and Julian's wedding in 1977.  I sang, put baby's breath in Phyllis' hair, served punch and caught the bouquet...I absolutely love this picture.  We both went to college and life got in the way.  I left for A&M the next year and we didn't see each other again for about 25 years.

I saw him, BRIEFLY, at a class reunion.  He was very quiet and didn't have much to say.  Never in my wildest dreams would I think that I would ever see him again.  So....after 32 years, I get a request to be his friend on Facebook.  I couldn't believe it!  Kevin Lorenson after all these years.  We "talked" for a while on the phone and in May of 2009, he drove to College Station.  It was perfect and I think we knew at that very moment that we would be spending a lot of time together.  Little did I know that it would be the rest of our lives.

I moved to Burleson in May of 2010.  (I actually moved one car load at a time for about 6 months!)  In September of 2010, we went to Mexico for a dear friend's wedding.  It was the most romantic place ever!  We loved being there and can't wait to go back!  After being there for a couple of days, we were walking on the beach and I turned around and he was on one knee.  He asked four questions that I will NEVER forget
"Do you love me?"
"Will you ALWAYS love me?"
"Will you spend the rest of your life with me?"
"Will you marry me?"
....I said yes.  It was the most surreal moment of my life.

We called our families (yes, Daddy already knew because Kevin had called him to ask for his blessing!)

We are so blessed and never EVER for one second doubt that God put us back in each others' lives for a reason.  We don't know what His plan is for us, but we know that we will be together while trying to figure that out.  We hope that through us, others will know of God's love and His desire to bring hope and prosper to all that love Him.

Thank you for being there for us and for being excited about our new life together.  We are so stinkin' excited!
